We Can

Make access to our systems meaningful regardless of your native language.

They did it

Credentialed medical interpreters are increasingly available in the healthcare system. Knowing that understanding information about diagnoses and treatments, dedicated training programs have been developed to ensure that interpreters have the skills they need to make communication possible.

Here’s how

Found in Translation is on a mission to create new career pathways for immigrant women to become medical interpreters. They train low-income bilingual women to be professional medical interpreters and connect them to jobs that demand their skills. These interpreters help systems provide equitable access to healthcare and vital services.

Design with this in mind

  • How is your system designed to communicate with non-English speakers?

  • When someone needs an interpreter, does it cause delays in your system that people who speak English do not experience?

  • How do you know that your interpreters have the knowledge to communicate effectively about your system?

  • Is the private information of the people who interact with your system protected when interpretation is needed?
